Statement of Purpose

MoveOnPAC's campaign contributions provide financial support to congressional candidates who embrace moderate to progressive principles of national government. Our intention is to encourage and facilitate smaller donations to offset the influence of wealthy and corporate donors. With the Congressional balance of power hinging on the outcome of a few key races, the candidates endorsed here are crucial to maintaining the balance of power in Washington.

By contributing to candidates through the MoveOnPAC, you will:

  • INTEGRATE your efforts with other like-minded citizens, forging one powerful political force--just as the large corporations and well-funded special interest groups are doing.
  • INFORM yourself about critical issues to be debated in upcoming elections around the country by reviewing MoveOnPAC's research material on political candidates who can make a positive difference to the balance of power in Washington, D.C.
  • INFLUENCE a significant number of important elections with just one quick, simple, secure credit card transaction.
  • INSPIRE friends and neighbors to re-engage in a political process that for too long has appeared responsive only to the powerful and wealthy.
How the MoveOn.org Political Action (Political Action Committee) works

MoveOn.org Political Action makes donating to candidates easy by providing a simple conduit for your contributions. With one secure online credit card transaction, you can immediately make contributions to several campaigns. All funds go entirely to the individual campaigns in the amounts you specify. We take care of all the required FEC paperwork by transmitting necessary contributor information to each campaign.

MoveOn.org formed a Political Action Committee (PAC) so that like-minded, concerned citizens can influence the outcome of congressional elections, and in turn, the balance of power in Washington, D.C. MoveOn.org's intention is to provide individuals, who normally have little political power, to aggregate their contributions with others to gain a greater voice in the political process.

PACs are federally regulated entities that allow businesses, organizations, or groups of concerned citizens to contribute money to candidates. By law, business and organizations are not allowed to contribute directly to candidates, but through the formation of a federally regulated PAC, they can do so.

Under the laws of the Federal Election Commission, candidates for federal office may accept contributions from an individual totaling up to $2,000 per election. Contributions or gifts to any of the candidates are not deductible as charitable gifts for federal income tax purposes. PACs can accept individual contributions of up to $5,000 per calendar to support ongoing efforts.

All credit card contributions to MoveOnPAC and its endorsed candidates are transacted on a secure server.
