2 Weeks Left: Use Your Tech Skills to Defeat Bush!

There are only two weeks left to turn out enough Kerry votes to swing the election. We have a plan to get an extra half a million Kerry voters to the polls on November 2 -- our unprecedented Leave No Voter Behind Campaign. At its heart are almost 8,000 MoveOn members in swing states who are walking their neighborhoods with lists of infrequent voters, identifying the Kerry supporters among them and getting them committed to vote. To do this, they need to pull names for their neighborhood out of our web tool, and enter data back in -- and as some of them have limited computer skills, they need technical support to keep things going smoothly.

We’re looking for around 1000 enthusiastic volunteers who can commit to receiving phone calls from precinct leaders who need assistance with anything from basic computer functions to diagnosing and resolving issues using our online tool, the Leave No Voter Behind Web Action Center (WAC). Your phone number will remain confidential. You’ll be ‘on call’ during your shift, and phone calls will go to a central number and bounce to your phone line when you’re logged in. You’ll have access to a tutorial, written materials, a help email account, and an online chat resource to help you answer questions.

Privacy Policy

We do not share the information you’ve given us with unaffiliated groups without your explicit permission.

Petitions and Surveys

For petitions and surveys you've signed or completed, we treat your name, city, state, and comments as public information - for example, we may provide compilations of petitions, with your comments, to the President and legislators, other targets, or to the press. We will not make your street address publicly available, but we may transmit it to members of Congress and to the President as part of a petition. This is a standard industry practice in such situations. In no such case will we disclose your email address or phone number without your permission. We may also make your comments, along with your first name, city and state available to the press and public online.

Under circumstances where we determine that members may be misusing our systems for malicious purposes (for example, using the numbers we provide to make harassing phone calls), such activities may be reported to law enforcement agencies. In such cases, MoveOn may release personally identifiable information, including name and address, to those agencies.

Sending Emails Via MoveOn.org Political Action

In certain cases, we enable you to send individual e-mails to the President, legislators, and other targets as well as Letters-to-the-Editor to various news publications, through our website. These messages will only be sent out under your name as you approve them on an individual basis using our email tool.
